On a cold, rainy night, his car breaks down near a children’s facility. Richard goes in simply to use the phone.
But even before calling a repair service, he hears crying.
Not a single baby.
Several.
Intrigued, he followed the noise to a room where cribs were lined up. Inside: nine abandoned infants, found together a few days earlier.
Officials explain that these babies will likely be placed with different families.
The requests exist, but each one concerns only one child, sometimes two.
Separating them therefore seems inevitable.
Richard remained motionless for a few seconds. He observed those little hands that fluttered, those looks full of innocence… and an unexpected thought crossed his mind: what if someone decided to keep them together?
This idea seems almost unrealistic.
Yet, she never leaves him.
