I buy bay leaves, lemon and cloves to create a pleasant fragrance in the house — and my guests think it all comes from expensive aroma diffusers.

In a  saucepan , pour:

  • 500 ml of water
  • the  juice of a lemon
  • 5  cloves
  • 3 to 4  bay leaves

Boil gently for  10 minutes . The steam that escapes immediately fills the house with a fresh, warm and soothing aroma.

Tip:  Let the mixture cool and pour it into a small spray bottle. You’ll have a  100% natural room spray  to use whenever you want to freshen the air or scent your linens.

Bonus: essential oils for lasting freshness

Essential oils are perfect for delicately scenting any room without a diffuser.
Here are a few simple ideas:

  • In the toilet  : 2 drops inside the toilet paper roll.
  • In the bathroom  : 3 drops on the corner of a hanging towel.
  • In the kitchen  : cotton balls soaked in citronella or mint oil under the bin.
  • In the living room  : a few scented cotton balls in the cupboards or on the radiators.

The best oils for a fresh and harmonious home: lavender, sweet orange, eucalyptus, lemongrass and peppermint.
